This is the last image I'm going to post of the sandstone masonry of Durham Cathedral and the penultimate shot from the Cathedral I'll post. I'm hoping to be able to return for the next photographers' evening - if I do I'll likely take a completely different approach so perhaps some more images then.
As I mentioned in the previous post, it struck me how effectively the craftsman and masons had utilised the direction of the layers in the sandstone for decorative effect. Whether it's for a functional reason or purely aesthetic, it is so effective I have no doubt it was intentional. Hopefully this shot illustrates, to some degree, the wonderful textures, colours and lines they create.

oh ! I missed this one...... bravo for spotting out all the different tones, textures and lines. Very dynamic picture. By the way I much appreciate to see the originals... it showes what you created and also takes off me the guilt feeling I have sometimes transforming my pictures or simply not beeing able taking THE picture which doesn't need alteration
