This is a closeup of one of the bottom panels of the main portal of the Basilica di Santa Maria in Florence, Italy.
I'm fascinated and in awe of classical architecture. I am irresistibly drawn to it and inevitably find myself wondering about the people who created it and the world they experienced. I wonder about the many people who have used and observed it since. I cannot resist photographing the little details, wondering how many others have noticed and marveled at the same details.

Wonderful. I love the DOF treatment, just hinting at the figures in the background. I wonder how many hours were spent just creating this sculpture alone.

the framing is excellent as well as the subject and the BW choice. Pitty for the top of the hat :-))

Nice isolation of the face. It looks rather sad and weathered.
