I grabbed this shot at Blyth Harbor in Northumberland. I'm a sucker for starkness: stark concrete structures, stark contrast, stark lines. I think I have a few more images that will illustrate my weakness for all things stark. I might dig them out and post them here.
It should be obvious that this shot isn't quite as the camera saw it. Aside from a significant increase in contrast, the other main change I made was to warm up the tones in the concrete. Since the cool colours of the sky and the warm colours of the concrete are complementary, this makes the contrast between them a little more, well, stark!
