This shot was also taken back in 2003 on the same day as the shot in the previous post. It's another from the project I'm working on themed around Zimbabwe. The location is Hwange in the west of the country and it is the centre of the coal mining industry, the site of the coal powered Hwange Thermal Power Station and Zimbabwe's largest national park, Hwange National Park.
Passing under the huge pylons carrying the electric cables in the early evening we spotted this congress of baboons near the top. Baboons naturally retreat to the tree tops at night to escape Leopard but, given that Leopard are also excellent climbers, this congress clearly felt the towering pylons were a much safer haven!

Thank you for your explanation to this photo. I' a big fan of electric towers and cables, but to know you shot this in Zimbabwe and these are baboons above there - this makes your image still much more special.
Fine composition and a bit scary as well.

Un bon moyen sans doute pour ces babouins de surveiller au mieux ce qui se passe alentour et de se mettre à l'abri des prédateurs.
Bien observé.

Oh Lord, they're baboons, at first glance you think 'birds'. I'll be checking all the pylons on my journey to work this morning!
